July 3, 2013. "FANTASTIC NEWS". The Washington State Legislature approves funds for completion of the Rocky Reach Trail.
More than $3.75 million dollars were approved this last week by the Washington State legislature to go toward Phase 3 and completion of the Rocky Reach Trail! This news was announced by Complete the Loop Coalition Chairman, Bob Parlette on a July 2 KPQ radio spot sponsored by trail supporter, Cycle Central. The front page of the Wenatchee World also carried the story. The public is still expected to step up to fund Phase 2, but with this additional state funding, our goal is within sight. Credit goes to freshman Rep. Brad Hawkins, R-East Wenatchee, for adding the request for funds to the budget. The funding will come out of the portion of the budget designated for public facilities, not the general operating budget, but, says Hawkins, this will benefit our community for years to come.
